The situation raises the question of whether this defeat will pave the way for a new alliance between Punisher and Daredevil to save someone in distress.
Warning! Spoilers ahead for Daredevil: Woman Without Fear #2! The Marvel Universe’s new Daredevil and Punisher have crossed paths, resulting in their inaugural skirmish in classic superhero style. Elektra journeys to Madripoor to rescue her ward from the clutches of the Maggia, only to encounter ex-S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Joe Garrison. The ensuing battle leaves only one victor.
In Daredevil: Woman Without Fear #2, penned by Erica Shultz and illustrated by Michael Dowling, Punisher arrives with the intent to kill Crossbones, whereas Daredevil needs him alive to locate her missing ally. The confrontation unfolds on a subway that spills into an embankment. Despite Daredevil’s disdain for the new Punisher, Garrison manages to keep pace with her.
Elektra dismantles Garrison’s body armor, but before the duel concludes, Nicky Sharpe from the Maggia intervenes to retrieve Elektra. Garrison shoots at Sharpe and Elektra, but she deflects his bullets, and Daredevil incapacitates Punisher with a decisive kick.
Elektra’s Daredevil Defeats the New Punisher
On an ordinary night, Elektra returned from patrol to find her ward, Alice, missing. She soon learned that the Maggia, an international crime syndicate, had abducted Alice, prompting the new Daredevil to head to Madripoor in pursuit. Elektra boarded a train, anticipating instructions from the criminal network. However, the train came under attack by Crossbones. Elektra geared up in her hero attire to confront Crossbones and his cohorts. During the chaos, a shot nearly hit Elektra and Crossbones, fired by the new Punisher, Joe Garrison.
Though not Frank Castle, Garrison is no novice. As a former S.H.I.E.L.D. operative, he ranks among the agency’s deadliest. Yet, Elektra is one of Marvel Universe’s finest martial artists. Trained by Stick and the Chaste, then honed by the Hand in the art of assassination, she has triumphed over formidable adversaries like Bullseye and Taskmaster. Consequently, Garrison stood little chance. With Daredevil having bested Punisher, what lies ahead in their budding rivalry?
Could Punisher’s Defeat Forge a New Alliance for Daredevil?
It’s common for heroes to engage in conflict upon first meeting, typically followed by an alliance. Elektra is pressed for time to save her ward and will need to confront the entire Maggia to rescue Alice. While Garrison and Elektra may not be allies, his skills could be invaluable to Daredevil’s mission. If Frank Castle and Matt Murdock could collaborate, there’s potential for this new Daredevil and Punisher duo to unite for a life-saving cause.
